Box Dimensions

Box dimensions are given in the sequence of length, width and height or depth. The dimensions of a box are described based on the opening of an assembled box. The opening of a box is a rectangle with two sets of parallel sides. The longer of the two sides is its length, the shorter of the two sides is its width and the side perpendicular to length and width is the height of the box.

Dimensions must be specified as either internal or external. Accurate internal dimensions ensure the proper fit of the product being shipped or stored. Alternatively, for palletizing, containerization and distribution the box requires precise outside dimensions to optimize utilization of the space.

Sheet Dimensions

For flat sheets of board the width is always specified parallel to the direction of the flutes.
